Technical shared services bring together shared human and technical resources to serve teams and technical platforms.
It carries out rock sampling operations, which can then be prepared and analyzed for further study.
It is used to crush rocks and separate minerals, mainly for geochemical and geochronological analyses.
It is open to all members of Geosciences Montpellier to create, develop or repair the tools required for their work. This work concerns general mechanics, electronics and instrumentation.
Lithopreparation service
It is used for making thin sections of rock for analysis. Covered or polished thin sections are produced for different types of analysis (optical microscopy, electron microscopy, electron microprobe, ion probe, etc.).
It handles optical microscopy observations required for many of laboratory’s research projects. These include microscopic observations using transmitted and reflected light, analysis of rock deformation and microthermometric analysis of fluid inclusions. Some of these devices are equipped with cameras and stills to capture high-resolution images.
